How Should You Pay For Your Bids? Easily.

So the auction is well on its way and people have been asking me how the charity will be getting all the funds to them.  You can do it the old fashioned way by depositing directly into their account once the bids are finalized, or there’s an easier, more convenient way.

Pocit will be facilitating a simple and convenient method for paying your pledges – directly from your cellphone! For free!  They’ve agreed to take on all bank fees so that neither you, nor the charity has to pay for the donation transactions.  How does it work?  Read on, dear nerd:

  • Pocit is cellphone payment system that allows users to make and receive payments directly from their cellphone.
  • When you sign up to Pocit, your cellphone number becomes your unique identifier.
  • Pocit creates a security umbrella to make and receive convenient payments from your existing money stores.
  • Anyone can register for Pocit by visiting www.pocit.mobi from their WAP enabled cellphones.
  • Follow a simple registration process (4/5mins) and then add and validate your CC or bank accounts in order to make your payments.
  • Visit www.pocit.co.za for more info or call 08600 76248 (POCIT)
  • At the end of the auction and once all pledges have been made, Pocit will send you a “payment request”  for the amount you pledged.
  • Simply open the Pocit application, select where you want to pay from and push pay.
  • Pocit will do the rest – simple as that!

Use Pocit to buy prepaid airtime, pay your traffic fines, shop online at www.edreams.co.za, pay municipal bills, retail bills and your friends!

I’ll be compiling a spreadsheet with all the finalized bid amounts, who owes what and so on.  I’ll contact you individually for your phone numbers too.  In the mean time, if you’d like to use this method of payment, you can save time and register with Pocit now already.  The beauty of it all is that you can continue using this service long after The Nerdies 2010 is over!

  1. [...] You have a choice of paying these amounts through Pocit, which is highly recommended.  Unfortunately they are not compatible with iPhones yet though but if you’re on any other phone, please download the application & read more on it here. [...]
